DAI Solutions is a dynamic woman owned consultancy headquartered in Alexandria, VA. We specialize in delivering high quality solutions to our corporate and government clients. We are currently seeking an independent consultant (1099) mid-level Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) to develop new training materials and user guides, and update existing training materials for new technical systems releases and mobile apps for our federal government client. Work will be completed at the consultant’s home office, with occasional in-person client meetings at the client’s Silver Spring, MD location.

Experience developing systems training and step-by-step user guides is required. The technical development schedule and periodic releases of new versions and new apps require that the ISD have flexibility to develop and/or update the training on an as-needed basis, with reasonable notice.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with new and existing client technical systems, learning systems navigation and user steps/processes, to create instructor-led training and guides that support practical application. Take screen shots within the system to embed into user guides and materials, created using Word and/or PowerPoint.

  • Develop technical systems training course materials for instructor-led and virtual instructor-led training courses, typically 1 to 3 hours in length, and accompanying technical user guides, using existing materials templates.

  • Support the client staff during reviews, to ensure accurate edits and updates of training materials and user guides.

  • Attend relevant release meetings, as needed, to develop background knowledge of existing and new systems and apps.

  • Attend, and occasionally deliver, instructor-led sessions at the client’s location, typically Silver Spring, MD.

  • Adhere to all client-specified time keeping requirements, including logging time using their online system.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality of assigned project work.

  • Must have enough flexibility to be able to develop new instructor-led and virtual instructor-led training, typically 1 to 3 hours in length, with reasonable notice, for new releases of systems modules and apps.

  • Must possess 6+ years of training related experience and systems training development experience.

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply ISD principles and theories; technical writing skills.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Ability to design learning products which reflect an understanding of client needs and project timelines.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the full range of learning technologies and their use in instructional delivery including Adobe Connect, MS Office Suite (including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

Education:

  • BS or BA in instructional systems design, education, organizational development or other relevant field.

Conditions:

  • Candidates must pass a federal background check to be accepted to work on this project.

  • Must live in the Washington, DC area in order to periodically meet with the client in Silver Spring, MD
